An arm-chair make-over no2. Drugi fotel.

Just to remind you how it originally looked like here is the same photo as in part no1.;)

This time I decided to cut out even more than last time. Maybe even too much...;) Also was trying to carve anything in the wood. And finally know for sure: I + fabrics = war - in which they usually win with me.:( You really don't want to know how much of fabrics is usualy waisted when I try to make with them something.... So to everyone of you who sew, crotchet, upholster, make little furry animals, etc: I envy you from the bottom of my heart!!!;D Honestly, my admiration for all of you is growing anytime I have to cut, sew, upholster or do anything else with fabrics. Really!
Anyway I hope you will like the result.:)

And Sans, I really don't know which scale these furniture are in any more. Seems to me they are a bit too small for 1:12 and too big for 1:24....

What a changeover! I bought a set of 1:24" of these furniture long ago. They are still in their box. Now I know what can be done with them. I'll maybe try to follow your work someday.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Jennifer! Happy you like it!:)

Carmen, do try it! It's a lot of work but also a lot of fun at the same time.;D And then you have the most unique mini furniture in the whole world!;D

I wouldn't recognise these chairs now! I have seen these chairs and other furniture and I think you'll find they are 1/16th which is the child dollshouse scale, just a little smaller than we are used to. You made a good job. Gill x

The Old Maid said...

Thank you so much, Gill! Yes, you must be right! Now I know what scale it is!;D Thank you once again!:)

I think your chair looks very nice :) I love how you draped the throw. I admire people who can work with fabric and fiber too.

Hugs,
Victoria

Thank you so much! Happy you like it:)

The Old Maid said...

Thank you so much, Victoria! The throw was the easiest to make of it all.;D
Glad I am not the only one who feels the same about fabrics! LOL!

I don't care what you say about your sewing etc I think you have done a great job with these. I wouldn't have thought of adding fabric. These chairs in their original conditions are not very attractive at all. That's why mine are kept in the cupboard still. :) You have made them unique and wonderful. You are an inspiration Ewa.

About whether it is 1:24, I searched online and found this : http://www.taiwantrade.com.tw/billyboy/products-detail/en_US/367873/WOOD_CRAFT_ASSEMBLEY_--_DOLLS_FURNITURE_IN_1_24_SCALE.

I am not sure if it is accurate though. But in real life, not all armchairs are the same size anyway. I remember my sister making adult furniture for children so they are 1/2 the size of the normal ones :). As long as they look right, I am never a stickler for scale. Surely scale is not an exact science and I think strict adherence to scale is ironically unrealistic ..haha, I may be shot for this comment :).

Your math made me laugh, but I think you made a mistake, it must be: You + Fabric = Wonderful Result. Really!!! ;O) It's a fantastic makeover, noone would ever guess there once was this very simple basic. Great job - and keep on with fabric. Maybe a little selfmade teddy for your beautiful dolls next? Oooops, I think I'd better leave now... *grin*

Greetings
Birgit

The Old Maid said...

Thank you so much, Eliana! Glamor - WOW! :D Happy you like it!

The Old Maid said...

As usual you are way too kind for me, dear Sans! Thank you sooooo much!
As I read your WHOLE family is talented - furniture for REAL children! WOW!!! Don't think I would ever dare to build anything in 1:1 scale....;)
And about scale I agree with you totally.:D Even 1:12 scale furniture and miniatures are different sizes sometimes and as you wrote: 1:1 are often too. So who cares anyway?;D

The Old Maid said...

Brigit: a teddybear?! Must ask your Flutterby for help - surely he knows how to make little friend of his! LOL!
Good no one have seen these pieces of fabric flying everywhere around my room and glue on everything....;D
Thank you so much!
Hugs to you

Ewa, I tell you TRULY, I want to come sit in your chair with the beautiful blue color fabric and smart navy trim! Especially with the lace throw at hand for the chilly nights and the hot cup of tea on the delightful little table.... I will be just so happy! You have made a Delightful scene.... and I agree with the others, your chair is SUCH a transformation NO-ONE could imagine it started as that lumpy kit! You have worked MAGIC... not war!!!

The Old Maid said...

Oh, Betsy, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your comments make me feel soooo good but also think I didn't deserve it!:D
The trim and the throw were a must - I told you: me and fabrics don't go well together.LOL!
I will post about the table soon:)

Well, for someone at war with fabric you've done a great job on this makeover.

Sounds like these are 1/16 scale. It can work in a 1/12 house if the rooms are small, I also think it's the perfect scale for a 1/12 child's room. Acutally to be honest it's my favourite scale but it's so difficult to get good accessories to suit it.

The Old Maid said...

Thank you so much Norma! Happy you like the result of my fabric war!:D
It is so true, it is hard to find right sized miniatures to the smaller scales:)

Arestrea said...

Hmmm... jeśli takim efektem końcowym przedstawia się Twój "brak talentu", to...cóż:D Można sobie tylko życzyć takich "braków" umiejętności;)
W każdym razie ten materiał z pewnością z Tobą nie wygrał;)

The Old Maid said...

Besos Ewa!!!!

Besos Flor!!!:)

Świetny pomysł na wykorzystanie tych chińskich mebli. Jak widać mogą stanowić dobrą bazę. Ciekawa jestem jakiej są skali? 1:6 chyba za małe, a na 1:12 za duże.

The Old Maid said...

Wszystko wskazuje na to, że to chyba 1:16.
Cieszę, że zmiana Ci się podoba:D

Kaya said...

1:16, takie malutkie? Pasowałyby to mini boxów. :)

The Old Maid said...
