An armchair make-over no1.

Dear Betsy has asked me lately if I do anything with miniatures nowadays. I am happy to say: actually I do!;) Here is the first post for a long time only about miniatures;)and I do hope to show you what I am working on soon.
Remember the puzzle furniture that Kristy once showed on her fab blog?(Does anyone know what is with Kristy anyway?) They reminded me about cheap furniture kits made in China that one can buy here quite easly. One of the kits is a living room set which includes sofa, two tables and two armchairs - that look like this.

Or they are supposed to look like above but it is rather hard to put them together - the holes are much too big for furniture to look nice without any additional work. But they seem to be good as the base for some changes. So I tried my chances and cut many parts away, then I had to fill the gaps in....

...then polish it up....

...and paint it once....

...and twice....

...then it was a time for upholstery and of course you can see the furniture suddenly got "older";)

Still it wasn't ready. I was looking at it for a long time and finally knew it needed a small addition....And here it is ready!

Hope you like the new-old armchair! And yes, the second one is something I am just working on...;)

Super! Fantastycznie zrobione! Masz wielki talent do mini rzeczy^^(dużych pewnie też:P) taki podobny secik (składanka sklejkowa:P) widziałam ostatnio w (chyba)Castoramie, ale zabrakło mi chęci na malowanie;/ Tobie to tak ładnie i stylowo wszystko wychodzi, aż miło popatrzeć!:)

I don't like it, Ewa, I LOVE IT!

Fabulous work and it is great that you did not give up your minis. It will be such a waste!

I have these furniture too. So many of these , actually and they do make a very good base for bashing :). The sizes are not exactly 1:12 though in fact, aren't the furniture 1:24?

The Old Maid said...

Thank you so much, Brigit! Actually it is not lace but neither my hand work;) Hugs to you!

WOW, Ewa! I would NEVER have recognized the kit chair as the starting point for your FABULOUS make-over! And I LOVE the back textured panel! The whole thing is really beautiful! And I'm VERY glad to see what you are up to! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you soooooooooooo much, dear Sans!!!! It is so nice to read YOUR words because as you know I love all your minis and everything you do to them;D
I know Kristy showed 1:24 furniture but these actually are about 1:12. This armchair is 6,5cm high and 4,6cm wide - after my cutting that is;)- so it is maybe just a bit smaller than the rest of the 1:12 pieces I have.;)

THANK YOU, dear Betsy!!!!!I am soooooo glad you like it! Just like I admire Sans' minis I admire yours too so your words are a honey on my heart as we say here;D

The Old Maid said...

Dziękuję Ci bardzo!
Podejrzewam, że wyrzucamy tyle samo - albo ja więcej - zanim coś sensownego z tych prób wyjdzie;D
