I had no idea the word "lemon" means "ugly" in English too! LOL!
I promise to post a bit of miniatures during this weekend but today the other side of Toruń and some inspiration too.;D
A bit of shabby chic pink;)
Yep, you're right I've got more photos of these "lemons" in my camera.;)

LOL You know more than I, as I've never heard the term 'lemon' meaning ugly in English.
I love old nearly derelict buildings...no not to live in!
Michelle xx
So ugly that they have all have a beautiful character ;)
Thanks for sharing your lemons :)
Hugs, Jollie
LOL Michelle this is what my internet dictionary sent back - not google one;)- among other words;D So maybe somewhere it means ugly ;D
I think so too Jollie! Happy you like them:)
Oh... home sweet home:P LOL... was long time when I've been in Toruń... but still... it's so POLAND... Like the very last photo XD
:) Glad to bring the memories back to you Efa:)
To the best of my knowledge I don't think it is used for the word ugly in English.
But it does have an alternative meaning based on the sour taste it leaves in your mouth.
"A product which is low quality, does not meet expectations, or fails to function as promised."
We often call badly made automobiles that have many problems "lemons" and in fact we have written "lemon" laws to allow persons who buy the bad cars to have financial recourse for getting them fixed or getting their money back.
Thanks a lot Karin!:) It is always great to learn something new!
(We have this saying here: a man learns all his life and dies as a stupid one.;D )
Another evidence for my theory that blogging builds knowledge - now I've learnt a bad car or product is a "lemon" in English, we call that a Monday production in German... ;O) I like your pictures very much, may those houses be lemons or not, they have a style of their own and a real shabby chic - but I prefer to simply watch them and wouldn't want to move in...
Have a great weekend!
Birgit
Ewa I am loving these pictures you are posting. I think they are Gems not lemons :)
Victoria ♥
Hi Ewa! I Love the falling down old porch and the old bricks.... I think one can find neglect and ruins in any place..... and there is a kind of sad beauty in the decay. Thank you for sharing!
Me encantan esas fachadas "limones" como tu dices, son geniales para sacar ideas.
Aqui se dirian "fachadas ruinosas" jejeje
Las shabby chic no son precisamene mis preferidas jejejejeje, pero son tambien preciosas.
besitos ascension
You are so right Brigit! I am always happy to learn something new so it is good to learn something in your language too:)
Thank you so much victoria! Happy you like them:)
Happy you like them Betsy! I think the smae way as you do about these buildings:)
We call them "ruiny" too Ascension:) I was just fooling around with this shabby chic only because of this building pinkish colour;) Besitos:)
Hahahaha, I had to quickly "jog"here to see your lemons. Although "lemon" may not mean ugly, I totally get what you are trying to say and I think you could not have put it better. I love the pictures because they make me laugh but I'll have to agree with you that most of them are lemons :)
I have seen many of these buildings ! In fact , the shabby chic pink one look strangely like my office building! Will you believe that my office building is a conservation building because it was built pre war and has " preservation qualities"? This however may mean that all our friends here are right. No matter how much we think something is a lemon, when they get old, they tell a story and often these stories are worth preserving :).
Thank you for this brilliant post, Ewa :)It is easier to love Torun now since it is not perfect :)
Oh you are lucky to work in the old building Sans.
My company on the other hand is placed in the building straight from 70s which was supposed to be a...hospital. So it is rather ugly but according to our head office it is the cheapest choice...;)
