Lessons learnt. ;) Nauka na przyszłość.

So I  bought myself a new book about furniture's history by Michael Huntley.
Full of coloured and great photos.
And of course I got totally enchanted and I wanted to make all of the pieces shown there at once! ;)
But that's not so easy to do, as we all know it.
I started with one: Bureau de Dame -  Parisian Lady's Desk from 3rd quater of 19th century.

The shape looks simple to make, still the making of this desk has taught me a lot.
I made a few mistakes which weren't that minor, but I've learnt my lessons, hopefully, well for the future.;)

Also I tried for the first time to gold plate a few details of this piece. Okay this is not a real gold but schlagmetal(if google is right about this name in English).

I changed two decorative ferrules which I didn't like. They were looking like a symbolic trophies which don't really suit lady's desk so I changed them into the flowers with leaves.

Here you can see a close up of one of them ready to be "gold" plated.

Hope you will like it no matter some mistakes I made!
And I  hope to be able to have this kind of desk in my shop to be made on your request soon. :)
