"Happy is (s)he who, like Ulysses, has travelled far...."

Feb 10, 2012

My February Girl. Moja lutowa dziewczyna.

Some of you may remember my pitiful attempts of participating in Minidolllist’s Astoria Project two years ago. Back then I was one of the Minidolllist’s RAK’s “wards” (don’t know if it is a right word, LOL!) and got a few china doll kits to put together and dress them up. Truth is last year I wasn’t thinking of them at all. This year, however, when Dana Burton published her first very own Frills and Fancy magazine on the web I got inspired by her again and took the kits out of their dark box. Luckily for me all the dolls have their faces already painted.LOL!

I chose this kit because of the sweet smile on dolls face and these pretty dimples in her cheeks.
And ever since I received this pretty checkered fabric I knew I had to use it somewhere.

I tried to be very, very, very patient making this doll kit, to keep it simple and to follow some tips from Dana’s lessons(that also took place 2 years ago).
This February Girl is in many ways “the first one”. She is the first one with her “bottom” additionally made of clay by me to give her better shape. She is my first one with waved hair – this was really tricky for me, but I think the hair looks nice. She is the first one in sitting position. Also I draped her skirt and underskirt for the first time and used Dana’s tips to it of putting more fabrics on one side of the skirt and spray the fabrics with hair spray later on to fix it on place.

I showed her first to Dana Burton and Hellen van Dorsten without whom making dolls wouldn’t be possible for me. They liked her and the doll got good opinions from other Minidolllist’s members. Which made me really happy as the List is full of wonderful doll Artisans and Artists.

And if you love mini dolls it is a place for you too!!
As usual I hope you will like her too!:)

Byłam wówczas jedną z podopiecznych programu RAK tejże listy i otrzymałam od jej członków parę zestawów porcelanowych lalek do złożenia i ubrania.

Oh, no, Drora, I didn't sew her outfit at all! Not that I am THAT lazy but I have no talents to sew, crochet and anything like that. Her dress was entirely put together using glue only.:)
I am so happy you like her!! Thank you so much!

P.S. Falowane włosy naprawdę Ci się udały.

Pozdrawiam!

The Old Maid said...
