The Prototypes. Prototypy.

Although sometimes I let myself dream about it, I have never had(and most probably will never have;)) a house with a private pool. But who would dare to stop me from dreaming about my own pool with my own comfy deck chairs and long lazy days with a book in my hand, for example? Private holidays all year long....

But since I can't have them - both the pool and deck chairs - in 1:1 scale life I just might try to make me a small deck chair.;) Looks easy!
But it wasn't.
Below you see the first trial. Made of coffee stirrers. Bad shape, the back part is much too short and the whole thing is really too fragile. And be glad you can't see how the fabric looks like under the deck chair....;) BUT the back you can set in three positions!

Thought it over. Used a wood this time. Still not satisfied yet....again because of the way I struggled with fabric... But looks more solid, the back is easy to set too.

What do you think about my prototypes?

Your chair is amazing..and it works! The part of my brain that figures out technical problems does not work...so I greatly admire your skills to build such a realistic prototype! love, Rose

Flutterby asked me to tell you he would like to flutter by, make himself comfy in that gorgeous deck chair and hope for a honey milk - he would never miss the pool... (LOL) It REALLY doesn't look like a prototype or a first attempt, your chair looks fantastic. Now make yourself a pool to make your dream come true in 1:12! ;O)

Greetings
Birgit

AHHHH! What a relaxing place! I don't need the pool.... (too cold here now!)..... But I can bring a book and my tea and relax here for hours, okay?
I think your chaise is VERY nice Ewa! But I know how the creator always sees the flaws.... so if you see any you can keep on making prototypes! Your "guests" will all be happy reading their books...... and dreaming... ! :)

You are welcome, Betsy! Anytime!:) Yes, yes, here it is also too cold for the pool already, but the tea would be a perfect choice.;D
Thank you so much! For sure I will work on these prototypes still. Maybe, in more than 20 years I will make a prototype I will be happy with..;D

Kathy said, "Oh, you mean it's a miniature? I thought it was real" (she really did say that). We have not seen a lounge chair like that before, where did you get the original idea?

Thank you so much Kathy and Tim! This is so great to read you could actually think it is real!
I saw this lounge chair in one of our interior design magazines.:)Originally it has two wheels instead of the first pair of legs but I haven't found right wheels for it yet;)

Chociaż nie jesteś do końca zadowolona z efektu końcowego, to leżaczki już fajnie się prezentują:) A ciągłe zmagania z materiałami dają świetne efekty:)

The Old Maid said...

Bardzo Ci dziękuję! Niestety materiały wciąż pozostają bardzo oporne na pracę ze mną...Oj przydał by mi się kurs intensywnego krawiectwa...;D

It is wet and humid here but all year round, you can laze at a pool in Singapore ;). I see you also have not replied to my email huh ? :) No pressure of course , just teasing you , Ewa!

Ok, about that deck chair of yours, get ready to start a factory, lady! Furniture factory! These days, I really look forward to coming by and see your latest invention. Of course, I have always loved being here but I can see you are now onto another phase of your work and getting so good at it too.

I was just reminiscing our version of a traditional canvas folding bed that an uncle of ours had . In fact I was just asking my dad if they still sell it here in Singapore! It looked and worked just like a vintage wooden folding stool with canvas seat except it is the size of a camp bed. Your deck chair looked just as comfy, Ewa :)

The Old Maid said...

Besos Flor!!:D

The Old Maid said...

Do you know I missed your comments, dear Sans? I know you are working hard, still...;)
Thank you so much!
Ohhh I am so curious about that canvas folding bed! Wish I could see it!:)
More in my email soon;D
